DISCRIMINATION AT CIRCLE K!
I have been homeless for 3 years now and living a
allley in Poenix.
I recently applied for a job as a cashier at
Circl K on 32nd st. & Bell Rd on October 10,2007.
The manager (Donna) and the district manager
(Greg) both interviewed me and told me I was
hired as
long as I passed the background check. I was told
they go back seven years and as long as there were
no felonies, drug or theft convictions I should be
ok. I told them I had a D.U.I five years ago.
Since October 11th I have checked back with Donna
every day on regards of when I can start and if
the background check came through.Well finally
today (November 1,2007) she informed me that I was
not to be hired, but did not know why.I told her I
didn't understand,I had previous experience as a
cashier,she
gave the ok to hire me and so did Greg. Donna
simply said that the corp. said no go after
receiving
the background check results. Now since I have no
criminal or felony record what is the problem.
I do believe that she found out I was homeless
and is just saying the corporation said not to
hire me.
Donna couldn't or wouldn't give me an explanation
on reasons why,the reason being privacy act.
I told her thank you for your time, but tell your
corporate thank you for wasting my time.
My question is this a case of discrimination or
is it not?
